Dear John

Dear John

I write this letter in a state of despair.

Tauranga won't be hosting any of the 2011 Rugby World Cup games. No All Blacks. No Wallabies. Nought. And to add insult to injury, the buggers have also sent England down south for their pool games.

We might need to re-assess our plans for the 'Festival'. I doubt the new cycleway will be completed on time. Otherwise you could just fly into Tauranga International, we hire some bikes and then peddle like mad between Rotorua and Hamilton to catch Oceania 1 v Africa 1, Wales v Oceania 1 and Fiji v Africa 1.

Henry is not at all happy. He'd already booked his return Auckland flight via Bangkok. Four nights stopover. "Investigating new business opportunities", he said. I have my doubts. And he'd already budgeted for at least two weeks at the Sebel. He sounded pretty miffed on the phone when we spoke.

Not sure if there is any chance of a rethink on the schedule. I suppose we could send Pinetree to NZ HQ. Problem is, he could be in any pub in Papamoa right now, drowning his own sorrows. Actually, I could do with a cold one myself. So I'll sign off and head to the C&B.

Talk about Friday 13th!

Your old mate, Charlie
